Pair of fine coloured engravings from Albertus Seba's Locupletissimi...
A pair of engravings with hand colouring from Albertus Seba’s (blog article here) very rare publication (take a deep breath now) Locupletissimi Rerum Naturalium Thesauri Accurata Descriptio et Iconibus Artificiosissimis Expressio per Universam Physices Historiam.
Written in Latin the publication’s title roughly translates to: A Careful Description & Exceedingly Artistic Expression in Pictures of the Exceedingly Rich Treasury of Nature Throughout the Entire History of Natural Science.
These engravings are plate numbers 10 and 11 from Vol.1 of this publication and date from from 1734, they depict serpents and butterflies surrounding foliage and were coloured by hand.
Presented in substantial hand-crafted wooden frames with glass, these are very fine indeed and will be the pride of whichever space the adorn.
As some in the business might say, these are the real deal.
Dimensions (each framed image):
450mm wide
600mm high
40mm deep
Please note, shipping is free to all UK mainland and island addresses, if you are outside of the UK, please contact us prior to purchase for options and costs.
Due to the bespoke and hand-made nature of picture framing, there may be some variation in frame sizes between pairs and sets.
